My Journey

Am I passionate about real estate? Absolutely. As young parents, my husband and I knew we wanted to buy a home. We were self-employed and it just seemed impossible.

 

We went from searching for our dream home to searching for something we could just make work. We looked at all the listings that said: “not for the faint of heart”. That became our new mantra.

 

At first, I couldn’t envision any of it. My husband, on the other hand, is an artist and so creative. He would verbally paint a picture of what we could do with a particular home. It took a while, but I finally began to see the potential in each home we looked at. This was the beginning of our real estate journey.

 

We began rehabbing homes before the whole “flipping” craze came about and even before HGTV. This wasn’t a job for us. It was the only way we could afford a home.

 

We had to move in (with kids) and live in each home while we remodeled. Often we would put the kids to bed and work late into the night. It was a labor of love. We eventually had four children. Needing more space, rehabbing the homes became a necessity. Thank goodness for equity and the good fortune of timing the market. We would sell one house and move into the next bigger house and start all over again. It was a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, but the final product was oh so worth it. We were able to make each home our own.

 

Now we do it more for fun (we love a good challenge) and to increase our investment portfolio. It has helped make me a strong believer in the power of real estate. It’s why I want to help others navigate their real estate journey.

 

Is it all I do or all I am? Definitely not. I’m fiercely passionate about family. My husband and I have been married for over three decades. Being a mom of four and a Nana to my grandchildren is the absolute icing on the cake.
